Rolande Depoortere obtained a Master’s degree and a PhD in History from the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She has been active as an archivist at the State Archives of Belgium since 1994 and since 2014 she is the head of the “DIGI-P@T Digital Preservation and Access” service. Previously, from 2006 to 2014, she was the head of the “Archives Supervision” service. She was responsible for the coordination of the supervision process and validation of publications concerning this process within the Belgian public services. This encompassed more than 100 disposal/retention schedules, including the justification of the appraisal process, and auditing/inspection reports. From 2001 to 2002 she was the head of the State Archives in the Brussels Region. Rolande has also been a member of the “Archives Centres” Steering Committee of the French Community since 2010. She has coordinated several research projects including one on the history of the institutions in the Brussels Region and one on the history of administrative jurisdictions in Belgium 1830-2008.
